Equipment register

The vessel's identity — the make and model of each system — read straight from the reference documents you upload. Meridian answers identity questions from here, so they're fast and unwrongable. You don't have to type this in: upload your spec on the Reference page and it fills itself. This page is just to review and correct — your edits always win. Captain-only.

Read from my documents. Pull the make/model of every system out of your uploaded reference docs (spec, surveys) and fill the register automatically. Re-run it any time you add a document — it never overwrites a value you've corrected by hand.

Load reconciled systems — the file produced from your PMS export and the ship's Record of Equipment (matched on your machine; nothing sensitive leaves it). Each becomes a proposal below for you to approve.

Load a unit structure — groups the PMS component rows (a genset's diesel + electrical end + charger + exhaust) into the units the crew names. It mints the units and PROPOSES the part-of links for you to approve in the systems-graph card below — nothing changes an answer until you approve it.

Set categories from names — reads every system in the register and files it under what it actually is (stabilizer, thruster, generator…), so counts and lists follow your categories rather than the way the PMS groups them. One pass, the whole register. Anything it cannot tell from the name is left alone and listed for you. It never changes a category you have already set.

Start fresh. Clear the current register so you can rebuild it from your PMS + certificates. Every current system is retired, not deleted — kept and restorable in "Retired & merged" below — and your vessel name/year/type stay. A local snapshot is taken first.

Proposed from your documents · 14 awaiting your review

Meridian found these in your uploaded documents but they are not in the register yet, so she won't state them as fact. They are grouped by domain — tick a group's Select all and Add selected to approve a whole domain at once, dismiss the rest as Not equipment, or act on a single row.

Former names & hull / registry numbers · so her old manuals are recognised as hers

She may have sailed under other names. A manual headed under a former name — or her hull / Lloyd's number — is still her own document. Add each one here from the vessel's papers (not a web listing) so Meridian recognises it. A hull or registry number is unambiguous proof; a common former name is not, so mark it common. A name's year range lets her flag a document dated outside the years the vessel carried that name.

Systems & equipment · mother vessel

Register the five craft? Whaler, Novi, and the jetskis share categories with the mother vessel, so “what generator do we have?” must ask which craft. One tap seeds Whaler + Novi + jetski rows (mother stays the default vessel).

System links · how your equipment connects

Tell Meridian which systems share a circuit, feed, or drive another. Then a question like “the fins AND the thruster are both sluggish — what do they share?” reaches the common plant.

Merge duplicates

Two entries for the same machine? Merge one into the other — nothing is deleted, and the merged name still resolves to the survivor.

A candidate is a guess seeded from your documents — Meridian won't state it as fact until you confirm. A confirmed value is your word: she answers identity questions from it directly, and cites any matching document alongside. Correct a value any time — it takes effect immediately. Nothing is ever hard-deleted — Retire and Merge keep the history so an old record still resolves.
