Equipment: Watermakers (Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper 1800)
Correct sequence to run and secure a watermaker — the fresh-water flush on shut-down is the step that saves the membranes.
- Open the seacock and confirm feed-water pressure on the gauge
- Start the low-pressure feed pump; purge air until the flow is steady
- Bring the high-pressure pump up SLOWLY; set pressure to spec (~800 psi)
- Check product salinity is below 500 ppm before diverting to the tank
- On shut-down: fresh-water FLUSH the membranes for 5 minutes — never leave them on seawater
- Log hours run + product salinity here
