Equipment: Generators (Kohler 99EFOZDJ)
First actions on a total blackout — restore a generator and bring essential services back in the right order.
- Confirm the blackout on the main switchboard; note any alarm that preceded it
- Check the standby generator is available; start it locally if the auto-start failed
- Close the generator breaker; confirm bus is live and voltage/frequency normal
- Restore steering and navigation FIRST, then engine-room auxiliaries
- Bring air-conditioning and galley back last to avoid a re-trip on load
- Log the sequence, the cause if known, and any breaker that tripped
